‘This Time Next Year We’ll Be Millionaires’and the cult classic single ‘Full Circle’put Good Health Good Wealth on the map, earning glowing comparisons to The Streets and Antony Szmierek while taking them to the main stage of the Reading and Leeds Festivals as well as earning Radio 1 airplay from Jack Saunders and Sian Eleri.
Now the duo raise the bar with a triple-shot of developments to build on that breakthrough – sharing their new single ‘For Once In Our Lives’; the news that their eagerly anticipated debut album ‘The Disco Never Ends’ will be released in September; and details of their biggest headline tour to date.
Already drawing comparisons to ‘Full Circle’, ‘For Once In Our Lives’ plays to Good Health Good Wealth’s most compelling strengths: their head-bopping melting pot of hip-hop, UK garage and alternative styles alongside the charismatic, street poetry lyricism of Bruce Breakey. Searching for ever-elusive happiness, Bruce observes the city around him – the crushing expense and poor housing, the dealers and the addicts, the chasm between the haves and the have-nots – and considers that leaving for greener pastures might be the change that he needs to make.
Bruce says, “I will always love London but it’s such an expensive city to survive in, it honestly makes me wonder what on earth I’m doing sometimes? The divide between the rich and poor just gets wider, it seems like more people are homeless and struggling than ever and that’s just on one little stretch of Holloway Road. Maybe moving somewhere sunny and slow would be better? I don’t know the answer, but I like to think that happiness does exist somewhere.”
Next up for Bruce and GHGW guitarist and producer Simon Kuzmickas is a rammed summer festival schedule which takes in highlights such as Boomtown, Truck, Latitude, Pitchfork Music Festival Paris and three shows as guests to The Streets. Their UK and Ireland headline tour then starts in Birmingham on November 13th and includes their biggest show to date at London’s 950-capacity Islington Assembly Hall. Some shows will see the band’s line-up extended to a trio for the first time with the addition of touring drummer Jake Barnabas.
