The Charfleet Book Bindery Awarded Prestigious Royal Warrant by His Majesty the King

The Charfleet Book Bindery is proud to announce that it has been granted a Royal Warrant by His Majesty King Charles III, a rare and distinguished honour that recognises the company as an official supplier to the Royal Household. The accolade celebrates the bindery’s longstanding craftsmanship and its role in supplying calendars to Buckingham Palace.

Under the ownership of Simon Burstein, The Charfleet Book Bindery has undergone a remarkable transformation. Once on the brink of closure, the historic bindery was rescued and revitalised when Burstein acquired the business and relocated it into a modern, purpose-built facility on Canvey Island. The new premises, opened by HRH The Duchess of Edinburgh on 27th June 2023, now serves as a vibrant hub for traditional British bookbinding excellence.

“This Royal Warrant is an extraordinary honour and a testament to the dedication and artistry of our team,” said Simon Burstein. “It is a privilege to carry forward the legacy of British craftsmanship and to serve the Royal Household.”

Continuing its commitment to heritage and innovation, Charfleet recently launched a special collaboration with Bonfield-Block Printers and Leathersmith of London. The resulting collection of landscape guest and writing books draws inspiration from the English countryside, merging traditional techniques with timeless design.

The Royal Warrant not only affirms Charfleet’s place among Britain’s finest makers but also reinforces its mission to keep artisanal skills alive for future generations.
